PEEP INTO OBITUARY

             *A PEEP INTO MY OBITUARY.*

Like our forefathers are fond of saying: "He who remembers the inevitable should watch his steps, he who remembers the death of Basorun Gaa should be truthful".
It is hard to face the reality that none is born to live on this side forever, you either transit or you are translated.
With what I have known about this faithful servant it knows no colour or age, at nineteen or ninety, he does his work for men alike. Everyone prays to be old before exiting the scene, *even a mad entity prefers his insanity to finality.*
The thought of this got me thinking of what my Obituary will look like. Will it be that I came, I saw, I conquered, just like I have heard since birth? _For no one in the real sense of life will only come, see and be bold to face the world that he conquered._ I therefore will not agree with such statement, for my life was not fashioned for seeing but for doing.
Every man is born to see, even the blinds sees with their inner mind. Little wonder the blind Hellen Keller poised: *_"the most pathetic person in the world is the person that has sight and not vision"_* she did not just postulate the quote but proved it with her feats in destiny. I was once given to the thought that I only need to be famous, wealthy, old and then transit, I never knew that it is suicidal to the kind of purpose I carry.
The generation of our fathers have proven with all evidence that they only came to see and that is why the conquering part of their claim is vague and fake except for few. _Seeing does not make a man conquer in any conquest, doing does.
Nobody on the verge of death asks that they surround him with his money, certificate and materials, it will be the height of foolishness, instead such requests to be surrounded with people; friends and family. This invariably points to the end of men's accomplishment. I asked myself on an occasion of excessive reflections, _"Bolarinwa if you are to be stripped off of all you think you have today, career, possessions, certificates and family, no matter how little they are, what is the one thing that will form the reason for your happiness?_ (leaving God out of the equation for that is the umbrella even a pagan will want to hide)".
I noticed that I could not answer for days until I was made to see that the only thing that can spring up such happiness is seeing the ones you impacted and touched smiling because of the hope you gave them. Something told me that is what it means to have conquered in life.
To have silenced cries and torments, weeping and struggles, hunger and lack, sickness and diseases in the life of those around you, this is to have conquered.* Not with how much you spend to achieve this but with the heart with which it is done. To have gone all the way to make someone smile, to ease another's pain, to share another's burden, friends, that is to have lived.
"The life of a man consists not in the abundance of what he has"_, is a statement I love to live. If you have only set your life and thoughts to seeing, seeing troubles and pass, seeing people in need and move, seeing people hunger and leave, I tell you, you have not started living. Our lives soon fades away like a chaff before the wind and realities of how we have lived will unfold like the petals of flower. My life is not my own, my property is not even mine, only what I release and give to ease belongs to me invariably, Humanity owns every sweat of man. If I can peep into my Obitiuary at the minute when no help shall debar the hands of death, I want to be able to read from it: *_I Came, I Saw, I Impacted, I Conquered.
